LAMA TSONGKHAPA DAY

The celebration of the enlightenment of the great Lama Tsong Khapa (1357 – 1419). Lama Tsong Khapa is the founder of the Gelugpa Tradition and author of the Lam-rim Chenmo (The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment), one of the most important teaching in the Buddhist tradition.
The day serves to remind us of the great kindness of Lama Tsongkhapa, and encourages us to engage in Lamrim practice.

Hello. I have some lovely news to report. On October 25 the Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche will arrive at the center.

The following day we will be going out of town until our return on December 6. Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche has very kindly agreed our request to give a ‪Solitary Hero Yamantaka Empowerment.

It will be given over two days

Saturday, Dec. 7th at 2.00pm

Sunday, Dec. 8th at 1.00pm .

This initiation requires one to have previously taken the refuge vow and to have received Lam Rim teachings, training and continues with the practice. After the initiation, commitment of this Initiation is to practice the Six Session Guru Yoga six times in your daily life. If you qualify and wish to receive this initiation, please email us.

It is a very auspicious and fortunate opportunity to have Kyabje Yongyal Rinpoche here giving this teaching.

Also, Ven. Achok Rinpoche will resume his Monday and Tuesday evening teachings

Dear All:

Our dear teacher, Ven. Achok Rinpoche, and I are now in Indonesia. Rinpoche is teaching in the place where Lord Atisha received teachings from Lama Serlingpa. Over the past 4 months Rinpoche has taught and presided over ceremonies in China, Tibet, Thailand , Sir Lanka and India. We look forward to seeing you and returning to the center.

Rinpoche will teach at the center on Monday, November 18th and Tuesday, November 19th at 7 pm. Following that, we have activities out-of-town that will keep us engaged until the beginning of December. As soon as i know more about the details of our December teaching schedule, I will let you know.

Hello Dear Everyone,

Ven. Rinpoche and I send you greetings from India and hope that you are well. We hope that you had a lovely summer and are enjoying this fall weather.

We are very, very sorry to inform you that our most dear and kind Margot Willkie passed away on August 21st. She passed very peacefully during the full moon in her lovely house by the water on Martha’s Vineyard. We feel very, very blessed to have known her and are saying many prayers for her as she travels in the bardo, with wishes for her to meet with a wonderful new incarnation.

Her 49th day ceremony will be at the center on October 8th at 5:30 pm. A Guru Puja will be performed. You are most welcome to attend. Her family and friends will be attending the puja as well.

The following day, Oct. 9th, her family will be giving a service at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Manhattan. The service will be at 5:30 and there will be a reception that follows the ceremony on the grounds of the cathedral. Everyone is invited.

We look forward to resume teachings by Rinpoche and we will let you know the dates that classes will begin again as soon as we know the date of our return.
